HOW TO BECOME AN AMATEUR BOXER
USA Boxing programs are open to both male and female athletes, ages 8 onward, however females will only compete against other females and have some different equipment needs and are bound by some medical restrictions.

Junior Olympic Division for athletes ages 8 to 16, broken into four subdivisions:

Bantam, ages 8, 9 & 10

Junior, ages 11 & 12,

Intermediate, ages 13 & 14, and

Senior, ages 15 & 16

Over 17 Division for all athletes ages 17 to last day of age 34
The Senior Division has two classifications

Novice - for boxers with 10 or less recorded bouts

Open - for boxers with 11 or more recorded bouts

Master Division is 35+ and you compete with someone 10 years above the minimum 35 years of age.

Athlete Membership Application Requirements for YCYBA, Inc.
If you register for the first time: (Male / Female ages 8+)
To receive your passbook to box, the following items must accompany your athlete membership application form:

1. Two (2) photographs above the shoulder, front view.

2. Birth verification (a certified copy of birth certificate, certified by Notary Public, in its absence, a baptismal or
hospital record, or duplicate original) from the state, county, Municipal Bureau of Vital Statistics or local jurisdiction of the place of birth.

3. Membership application fee. Money Order payable to USA Boxing (no checks or cash) for $50.00.
After September, fee is $37.50 for remainder of the year.

$10.00 late fee if dues are not paid by the 1st of the month

4. For members 18 years of age or older, $10.00 monthly fee, 1st month required with application or $100.00 for full calendar year, January through December.

Monthly fee is subject to $ 7.00 late charge before use of facility.

5. All certified boxers must have a government issued I.D. for travel consideration,
available from ADOT on Gila Ridge Road at $12.00.

If you are renewing your membership: (Male / Female ages 8+)

1. Completed athlete membership form.

2. Membership application fee (Money Order only) payable to USA Boxing.

3. Passbook.

4. All certified boxers must have a government issued I.D. for travel consideration,
available from ADOT on Gila Ridge Road at $12.00.

In each case, the athlete membership application form must be filled out in its entirety and signed by the applicant. If the applicant is under the age of 18, his/her legal guardian must sign it only. No other person may sign for the parent or legal guardian. Proof of guardianship must be provided.

Restricted Participation (Article 1, 101.9(2) Foreign Athletes:
Foreign athletes are barred from participation in advancing local, regional and national tournaments or any box-offs that would lead to international competition.

1. Photos available at the gym during business hours for $ 3.00. Must be a Money Order made payable to YCYBA.

2. Physicals to be done by applicant's physician or Dr. Wayne Chiavacci MD.
(Please ask if Dr. Chiavacci MD has scheduled a time for physicals at the gym.) No Charge by Dr. Chiavacci.

3. Membership fee is $50.00, payable by Money Order only to USA Boxing. Application can be filled out after bringing in birth certificate, photos and
all applicable waivers, rules of the gym form, insurance acknowledgement form and proof of government issued ID.

MEMBERSHIP FEE MUST BE A $50.00 MONEY ORDER ONLY PAYABLE TO USA BOXING

SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE FOR YOUTH UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE
PLEASE SUBMIT A ONE-PAGE LETTER TO YCYBA REGARDING WHY YOU WISH TO PARTICIPATE IN OLYMPIC-STYLE BOXING, WHETHER YOU INTEND TO REGULARLY TRAIN & ABIDE BY THE RULES AND WHY THE MONTHLY $10.00 FEE CANNOT BE MADE TO YCYBA. DECISION WILL BE MADE WITHIN 2 WEEKS OF RECEIPT OF THIS LETTER.
